Playoffs :: Superbowl

A very low scoring game to say the least. Matt Bryant really stepped up for us nailing two field goals which helped us put away the Colts.

Peyton Manning really hurts his team by how much time he takes screaming out changes. Not that it hurts his team play if anything it helps that but it wasted a lot of valuable clock time. He could have ran down the clock on his own if he wanted to too. We wouldn't have had to kneel the ball even once.

Well in the end we did with a huge stop on 4th down where McDowell just snapped it put a knee on the ground then grabbed some Gatorade and dumped it on Gruden. What a huge boost for the Tampabay area. I mean three seasons ago they weren't even in the playoffs and now they are super bowl champs.

I took home the MVP honors and got a nice new car. It was also a sad moment for since I decided to call it quits after only 4 seasons.

A lot of people think it is dumb but I didn't go off and blow all the money I earned, I saved a huge portion which I will be able to live off of. The reason I retired was to begin a normal life. Football is a lot of fun but its taking away a lot of time that I usually spend with the family such as Christmas and New Years so I figured it was about time to end it even though I had my regrets.

Its been a great journey these past few years and to all the fans thanks for hanging in their, even as far back as the 49er days. Really helped out a lot. And I'll finnish the same way Coach use to Finnish all his pre-game speeches by saying "POUND THAT ROCK".

Playoffs :: Conference Championship

WE DID IT! We are heading to the Superbowl baby! I have not been so excited in my life. This is what all that hard work and effort is for, to win the big one. We advanced after beating the Eagles easier then expected. The final was 28 to 14.

At the end of the 3rd quarter coach came up to me and said that he is sitting me because he doesn't want any of the starters to get hurt before we head into the superbowl. He only benched a few of the offensive players but our offensive line and Defense stayed the same. McDowell also stayed in the game.

When he told me that it all just finally started sinking in. I am actually going to the big dance, the Superbowl. The only thing left to do is win that Lombardi trophy.

As for our game this week I managed to pick up 70 yards off of 13 carries before I hit the bench. I also picked up a 3 yard touchdown off a toss. As for next week I am going to try to get twice as many yards as that. If I can have a break out game then that would make a victory so much more sweeter. I'll have an update sometime after the Superbowl.

Playoffs :: Divisional Championship

This game was not pretty at all. The first drive Rex Grossman hit Sweeney on a 75 yard pass touchdown to put them up 7 nothing. They would continue their dominance leading 20 to 0 by the end of the 1st quarter.

We did start to come back a little in the 2nd quarter scoring off a 18 yard pass from McDowell to Monroe on our first drive. The Bears came right back up and scored on a 35 yard field goal. By the end of the second we had made some progress making the score now 33 to 21.

The only points scored was a touchdown by us and a field goal by the Bears in the third so lets jump right into the 4th. Now I told you before McDowell has comeback moments, well today was the best one I have ever seen.

We did let the game get out of hand a little on Defense but our offense stuck in there all the way until the end. We went on two score on our next three drives. The third drive McDowell threw a pass to the corner of the end zone which I had no idea he was coming to me. I was just trying to pull some corner backs over my way to give McDowell a better target. I tried my best and was able to get two feet in bounds barely which put us in the lead for the first time of the game. Withabout a minute left we were about to hold the Bears off which gave us the victory 44 to 47.

As you could tell I was not able to really get anything going on my part at all the first three quarters, Up to the 4th I only had picked up about 43 yards rushing. Some how I managed to pull out 128 yards off of 13 carries. I did score one touchdown off a 44 yard run which was blocked beautifully by the Offensive line.

Next week we head into Philadelphia to play the Eagles. If we win this game we are heading to the superbowl. Something I have dreamed of since I was a kid. I am so happy to be in this situation and after that win against the Bears you can tell McDowell is determined not to let us down this year.

Playoffs :: Wild Card

I knew it wasn't going to be to hard to beat the Saints since we did twice during the season already. The final score was Bucs 41, Saints 21.

On the day I managed to pick up 142 yards off of 25 carries. I didn't score any points but I think everyone else did enough of that. I remember on one play Jeremy Bannister picked off Drew Brees and ran it back for like 53 yards, was nuts.

Next week we will have one huge test. The team that sent us home early last year is the one we will be playing in the Division championship. As long as we can stop those big pass plays I know we will win. I have a good feeling about this week. Hopefully we can take care of business so we can continue onto the big conference championship.

Regular Season :: Week 17

It looks like we will be facing the Saints for a third time this year. After we lost to the Lions this week we got word on who we would be playing. We were in contention to have a first round bye but I guess the Bears stepped up again. I remember going home last year because of that team and I promise you it will not happen again.

I only got to play half of the game, the second half all the back up players came in. I'm pretty shore Coach would have kept us in but our star Corner back got knocked out of the game with an injury which kind of made him a little more cautious.

I do have some other very good news. For the first time in my career I was named Offensive Player of the Year. Yea this really is a season to remember. I feel we have a good shot at going to the superbowl, even with the mistakes we made early this year. Hopefully we can take care of New Orleans easy, I'll have an update for yall right after the game.

Regular Season :: Week 16

It was like a whole different team was on the field this week. The Jaguars couldn't get anything going until the 4th quarter but by then they were already down by to much. McDowell did get into a little turnover freezing but our Defense kept holding off Jacksonville in the red zone. At the end of the 2nd quarter we were already up 17 to 0.

On the day I managed to pick up 143 yards off of 18 carries. I found so many wholes it was unbelievable but I have to say, Travis Henry was laying some big blocks. When I needed to get by that one guy Henry would come out of no where and light'em up. All those blocks led me to score three touchdowns on the ground. One of my best games of the season.

So with the win this week we clinched a playoff which leaves me with no idea about next week. Will Coach sit the starters or play them and risk injury? Right now its anyones guess but I will still be heading to the performance institute on Wednesday and Watch film on the Lions. Now the Lions have a slim chance but they are still fighting for the last playoff spot so we better not take them lightly. Depending if I play or not I will have at least one more update before Wildcard weekend, hopefully we get a home game.

Regular Season :: Week 15

This was a big turn around from last week. We didn't let the Saints get into this one at all. At the most they got four field goals which really didn't impact the game.

On the ground I had a huge game like always against the Saints. I picked up a total of 201 yards off of 19 carries. I only scored one TD but I ain't complaining. Especially after that 28 yard game I had last week. It feels great to rebound like this.

With this win we basically ended the Saints hopes of going to the playoffs and with a win next week or a Falcon loss we will secure a playoff spot and the Division title. Hopefully we will show up against Jacksonville. I know they haven't done that well this year but they still are dangerous.

Regular Season :: Week 14

We came out and straight up dominated the Eagles in the first quarter. We were leading 21 to 0 then some how McNabb found a way to tie the game before half time.

We took the lead to begin the third quarter but after that the Eagles took control. They weren't letting me do anything on the ground and McDowell was getting hit fast. After all that the final score was Philadelphia 35, Bucs 28. A very close game but one we should of won.

On the day I could only pick up 28 yards off of 11 carries. During the first quarter I did manage to pick up a three yard touchdown on my first run but after that I couldn't go anywhere. In the third I caught a 47 yard pass which put us in the lead but as I said we couldn't get anything going in the 4th.

Hopefully next week we can come in and beat the Saints to clinch the NFC south title. After that I'm pretty sure we wont get a first round bye unless the Cowboys totally have a melt down but its worth the thought.

Even with my performance I Still lead the NFC in rushing which is good for my pro bowl hopes. It would be great to finally make it as a running back. No disrespect to the Saints but I normally have good games against them dating back to when I play for the 49ers so hopefully that trend continues this week.

Regular Season :: Week 13

Yet another important win. We were able to take care of business this week against the Panthers with very little trouble. I even broke my personal longest run record after a toss play at our own 8 went all the way for a touchdown which gave us our only TD of the game.

Matt Bryant did a great job today nailing two 40 yard field goals and a 35 yarder which really kept the game out of reach for Carolina. We probably could have scored more but the second half Gruden became very conservative and started running down the clock which is reasonable.

On the day I picked up 191 yards off of 24 carries. Its about time I learned how to use my blockers. When I first get the ball I find myself more and more looking for a fullback rather then a whole like before. It's helped me run up the middle more then just bounce outside which I use to do about ten of the twenty times I would get the ball each game.

As for next week we head over to Philadelphia to face the first place Eagles. If we win we don't take over first place but it would give us the chance. Now if one of their final opponents can pick up a win when they meet then we would take over first but only time will tell on that one. For right now we just have to set our self up for that scenario by beating them.

Regular Season :: Week 12

This was a great win after the game we had last week. We are now in third place behind the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles. Since the Bears are not in our division the only thing we can do now is they loose one or two games so we can take over that #2 playoff spot in the NFC which would give us a first round bye.

Marc Bulger was out today with a Broken Jaw. His back up (Corey Riley) took his spot but could not get anything going at all. The first half ended with a tie with each team having 6. McDowell then got hot and started throwing some great passes which kept the clock moving and our offense on the field. The final score was Rams 13, Bucs 19.

I was able to pick up 135 yards off of 25 carries. Monroe got the ball a few times and even scored a touchdown. I can tell you right now James is going to be one heck of a back when he is done developing.

Next week we face another division opponent in the Carolina Panthers. Like I said last week, We need to beat them this week but in order to clinch a playoff birth we will need them to beat the Saints the following week not to mention we will need to beat Eagles also. A lot of things can happen but most of the scenarios are playing in our favor.

Regular Season :: Week 11

For the first time this season a team has stopped one of our come back attempts. The turn over problem also reappeared which killed any shot of us winning.

We lost to none other then the Chicago Bears. The same team who beat us in the NFC Championship. It would have been sweet revenge if we had won today but our focus remains on winning the superbowl.

Our offense really couldn't get anything going until the 4th where McDowell was throwing up prayers that thankfully Warfield and Christman kept catching. As for me I could only pick up 58 yards off of 16 carries, yea I know. A pretty bad game all around. The final score was Bears 28, Bucs 23.

We really need to beat the Rams next week if we want to have any chance at a first round bye but I am almost positive we are going to win the division as long as we can beat the Panthers in week 13 and the Saints can beat the Falcons next week which would keep us in first place no matter if we win or loose our game Sunday.

Regular Season :: Week 10

It was hard to get any footing this game. All the way up to the 4th quarter it was pooring on the field. Luckily we had Matt Bryant, he made 4 of 5 field goals on the day. Two of those were in the 1st half which gave us the lead going into the locker room, six to zero.

On the day I was able to pick up 143 yards off of 21 carries. I'm not sure why Gruden didn't throw Monroe in for a play or two but great performance by our offense either way.

With this win we now lead the NFC south by one game but we are still behind the Rams and Eagles in the NFC. We play the Rams week 12 and the Eagles week 14 so all of us will have our shot at home field advantage, hopefully we can come out on top.

Regular Season :: Week 9

This was a big Division win for us. The Saints were one of the three teams in the NFC south Fighting for first but now its between the Falcons and us. I know we lost to them in week 2 but as long as we can stop Vick from running un-like last time I believe we can pick up the "W".

As for Sunday it felt like I was playing Arena Football. I remember a game from years ago going this high, I think it was between the Browns and Bengals but it was so long ago.

We ended up going into overtime tied 42 to 42. Monroe and Henry got a few carries in over time which set us up in perfect field position for another game winning field goal by Matt Bryant, his 4th of the year.

As for me, I picked up 131 yards off of 22 carries. It wasn't to hard to get past this defense so just about everyone on our offense had a good day. When you look at our Defensive performance its the total opposite. The only real spark for the D came in the 4th quarter where Bannister picked off Drew Brees which set us up for another score which Ultimatly helped us win. Monroe came in for the two point conversion and scored off a toss play to tie the game.

The final of the game was 42 to 45. Right now the Division is pretty much even but as long as win can win our next 5 games I think we can pull a head of the pack. Currently we are in 4th place in the NFC behind Philidelphia, St.Louis and Atlanta.

Regular Season :: Week 8

Man, I never knew it took so long for the Colts to snap the ball. Manning was under center for almost 15 seconds just yelling out signals for hand off plays. But when he did finally take the snap he caught our D-Lineman off guard which gave him a couple of extra seconds in the pocket.

We didn't do so well. Everyone could tell this was going to be a hard game but no body could have predicted McDowell was going to throw so many interceptions. On the day he threw three which pretty much cost us the game. The final score was Colts 35, Buccaneers 23.

on the day I picked up 131 yards off of 15 carries. The only reason I have a huge total is due to one long run which went for 74 yards and a touchdown which tied the game 7 to 7 to begin the game but after that the Colts offense wouldn't stop scoring.

I think we just had a bad week which isn't normal for us. By next week we should be back to normal as we face New Orleans then Atlanta. Two huge rivals, we really need to beat them if we want to win the division.

Regular Season :: Week 6

What a way to enter the bye week. There is no way this game could have gone any better for us. We beat the Vikings 31 to 24.

I managed to pick up 2 touchdowns on the day, one on the ground and I caught one. This was arguably my best performance of the year.

With that win we now take over first place in the NFC south. We have a bye week this week and then we head to Indianapolis to play the Colts which will be a big game since they are having a very good year so far. After that we face the Saints so when we come back from our off week we need to get right to work.

My next goal next to winning the superbowl is making the Pro Bowl as a running back not a kick returner which I couldn't go as this year anyway since Monroe is running back kicks. So far its looking good. I'm in third place right now in total yards rushing behind Willis McGahee and Laurence Maroney.

Regular Season :: Week 5

Yet another over time game. We were down 10 to 31 going into the third quarter but McDowell pulled out another come back which won us the game.

I didn't get that many carries today but I was able to break a 40 yard run early which gave us our first points of the game. In total I got 79 yards on the day off of 15 carries.

I didn't find out until a couple of days after last weeks game but I was named the week 4 Offensive Player of the Week. That is the second time of my career. After a few bad games of running I finally feel back in the groove. I think all that extra work I've been doing at the Performance Institute is paying off.

We are really doing good this season. I know we had a slow start but once we got past that first game it was off to the races. As long as we can stop teams from scoring on us as much as they have I think we can go far in the playoffs.

Regular Season :: Week 4

Man what a game. Everyone was hitting their blocks. About four plays into our first drive our O-line did exactly what they were supposed to on a toss play which sent me 83 yards for a touchdown. That ties my own longest run record which I set back when I was a 49er.

Now I know the Packers have been struggling at quarterback since Favre retired but after the way second year player Tai Davis played I would say they are back to normal. To end the 4th quarter he led Greenbay down the field for a touchdown but they could not convert on the two point conversion which made the Final Bucs 28, Packers 26.

On the day I got the ball 16 times picking up a total of 190 yards and 2 touchdowns. The first one was off that 83 yard run and the second one was off a 37 yard counter play. Hopefully I can keep this going against the Texans next week.

Now looking into the future I think as long as we can beat the Falcons in week 10 we can win the NFC south for the first time in over 4 years. Currently we are in third place due to our lose in week one against none other then Atlanta.

Regular Season :: Week 3

McDowell is quickly becoming one of the best quarterback's in the NFL right now. Down 20 to 28 with a minute left he found a way to lead us all the way down the field for a touchdown, then threw a pass to Jeremy Stevens which tied the game.

In overtime the Panthers missed a field goal which gave us the ball at around the 36 yard line. Once we got to mid field Coach called a weak toss to me which went for 22 yards due to some nice blocking by Alex Smith who came in to play fullback. I came out and Monroe came in. He got two quick hand offs which set up Matt Bryant for yet another game winning field goal.

I didn't do as good as I wanted to today but a wins a win. Once I get back in my normal pattern there should be a lot of pressure taking off of our Quarterback to make big plays.

Regular Season :: Week 2

This was the worst game of my career. 20 yards off of 19 carries. The Titans were in the back field fast which was why we passed most of the time.

We did end up winning despite my performance 27 to 21. McDowell was hitting Clayton and Smith all day for big gains and our Defense was picking off Vince Young like it was nothing. Mitchell got two of the interceptions early which really set the tone. The final score was Bucs 27, Titans 21.

Well I can finally call myself a millionaire. I bought a new house this week and feel pretty good about my financial future now. Feels great, can't wait to invite some family & friends over to check the new place out.

Regular Season :: Week 1

Loosing 34 to 13 isn't the right way to begin a football season. I guess we just jumped back into the turn over problem we had last year. McDowell kept throwing picks, on the day he had 3. Two were ran back for touchdowns. I'm shore his job would have been easier if Warfield was healthy but he still had Clayton and Oldham to throw to. Warfield is going to be out for 5 weeks with a torn gron. I know that hurts..

I think I did my job except when we got into the red zone. I couldn't find any openings to run through down there. In total I picked up 103 yards off of 16 carries.

We need to turn things around against the Titans next week because I don't want to go through another year like in San Fransisco.

Quick Update - Preseason :: Week 4

We had a very average pre-season going .500, we lost in week 3 to the Chiefs and week 4 to the Broncos. Doesn't mean a lot since our starters didn't play much at all but I must say I'm very impressed with the way Monroe has been playing. He is probably the best replacement we could of gotten for Carnell. Over the length of the Pre-Season he managed to pick up 110 yards off of 14 carries. He also scored two touchdowns, Not bad for getting the ball only 14 times. Coach doesn't want to risk me getting hurt since we don't have to many playmakers at running back (yet) so Monroe will be taking over for me at kick returner.

Pre-Season :: Week 1

Yea, I think we found our new #2 running back/fullback. When it was time for second stringers to come in Monroe made the best of it. He scored two touchdowns in the third quarter alone, one of his runs he broke off of two tackles then hit a stiff into the end zone. Kid has a lot of promise just needs a little work in the agility category.

We beat the Eagles 34 to 14 but who cares about that since its the pre-season. The thing everyone does care about is how our rookies played and I have to say they played above average. I can already tell you that Austin Walker kid I was talking about last week will be a force in a few years. In this game he led the B-Team in tackles with 3.

Right now I will not be playing a lot but once the regular season roles around its game time. I'll have one more update to close out the preseason so check back soon.

Trainning Camp

Hey everyone its great to be back. So far training camp has been normal. We got a few new guys who look like they are really going to help our team out. My favorite rookie is that strong safety we took in the first round out of Montana, he can hit. Knocked me on the floor a few times already.

Now I'm not shore what happened to Jermaine Phillips but apparently Bruce Allen cut him and Carnell Williams. Both are still in the free agents but I know not for long. We still have Travis Henry and Thomas Jones. The new third stringer will be Jimmy Monroe who was drafted in the 4th round out of USC. I saw this kid play last year, he is very talented but his height is probably what drove some coaches away, kind of reminds me of my self except it was my weight that stopped coaches from grabbing me in this case.

Well as you could probably tell we will be running a 2 back set once again this year but it will be a little harder for me to get big yardage since we don't have Carnell as a decoy anymore.

We have a legitimate shot at winning the superbowl this year. Small and Adams have both improved a lot and the only change at defensive tackle was for the better. I am a little scared about the deep ball this season since Ronde retired but I have faith in the DBs who are still here.
